The parish of Myddfai is situated in eastern Carmarthenshire, in the south west of Wales. It has a varied landscape: the rugged barrenness of the mountains contrasts with the fertile richness of the dales and there are many wooded areas with streams and rivers flowing through. The scenery is striking, with the lanes running through steep wooded valleys giving glimpses of the grandeur of Mynydd Myddfai and the Black Mountain. The parish extends to about 4800 hectares and includes an open mountain area which was traditionally common land. The boundary of the parish is irregular but at the centre lies the village with six roads radiating from it providing access to all parts of the parish. At the centre of the village stands the ancient parish church of St. Michael's |
