Our Community Oral History
Milltir Sgwâr- a sense of belonging
Myddfai its plants and people

The focus of this project is the community, set up in order to remember, pass on and preserve the personal stories and wisdom held within the parish.

Through this, the project aims to strengthen our heritage and teach the next generations about the land to which we belong and which we must continue to care for. This project sets out to record the living memories of the past from the land; gardens, fields and hedgerows... What part did plants play in your life; on the farm, in the kitchen, food and home cures…?

Records will be placed in the National History Museum of Wales, St Fagan’s. Material gathered will be edited on to DVD and sold within the community.

The project will be done on a voluntary basis, supported by Milltir Sgwâr as part of a Rural Community Action programme delivered by Antur Teifi. All proceeds from material produced and sold will go back into the community to the Village Hall fund.

The project will be run by the young people of Myddfai, who will get training in oral history documenting, digital filming and audio recording, as well as receiving a valuable insight into the history of our village, neighbours and land.

Project was launched at Myddfai Winter Fair and ran until February 2007.

If you are a young person living in Myddfai and interested in being part of the team or have stories to share and are happy to be interviewed please contact Lara, Esgairfeithgen.

Hanes Llafar ein Cymuned
Milltir Sgwâr- a sense of belonging
Myddfai ei phlanhigion a’i phobl

Ffocws y prosiect yw’r gymuned, wedi ei greu er mwyn cofio, cadw a rhannu straeon personol a doethineb oddi fewn i’r plwyf.

Trwy hyn mae’r prosiect yn medru cryfhau ein treftadaeth a dysgu’r cenedlaethau nesaf am y tir yr ydym yn perthyn iddo ac yn gyfrifol am ei warchod. Bwriad y prosiect yw cofnodi atgofion byw o'r gorffennol o’r tir; gerddi, caeau a pherthi... Pa ran wnaeth blanhigion chwarae yn eich bywyd; ar y fferm, yn y gegin, bwyd a moddion cartref…?

Bydd y cofnodion yn cael eu cadw yn Amgueddfa Hanes Cymru, San Ffagan. Bydd y deunydd yn cael ei olygu ar DVD a’i werthu o fewn y gymuned.

Bydd y prosiect yn cael ei weithredu yn wirfoddol, gyda chefnogaeth Milltir Sgwâ fel rhan o raglen Gweithredu Cymunedol Gwledig a gynhelir gan Antur Teifi. Bydd yr holl elw a wneir wrth gynhyrchu a gwerthu deunydd yn cael ei roi nôl i’r gymuned i gronfa’r Neuadd Bentref.

Bydd y prosiect yn cael ei redeg gan bobl ifanc Myddfai, byddant yn derbyn hyfforddiant ar ddogfennu hanes llafar, ffilmio digidol a recordio sain, Ynghyd â chael profiad gwerthfawr wrth ddysgu am hanes ein pentref, cymdogion a’n tir.

Lansir y prosiect yn Ffair Aeaf Myddfai a’i redeg tan Chwefror 2007.
