WI JANUARY 2009
Thursday, March 12
The first meeting of the New Year was held on Tuesday 13th January, having been postponed because of the icy conditions on the road. The vice president, Barbara Thomas, took the chair and nine members were present. Apologies had been received from five members.
A report was given by one of the members who had attended the Christmas Fayre in Trimsaran, which had been much enjoyed. Members were thanked for their help with the cake stall at the Myddfai Christmas Fair, with the money raised going towards the new village hall fund.
At least one team will be participating in the annual quiz at the Halfway, Nantgaredig, on Tuesday 27th January, and several members are planning to play dominoes on Monday 23 February at the White Hart, Llandeilo. The Creative Day on 21 February has attracted one or two people, and at least two members will attend the WI Officers meeting at the White Hart on Wednesday, 25th February.
The beginning of a new year means that the WI subscriptions are due. 200 club: six bonds are to be purchased.
A suggestion was put forward that a visit might be made to a production at Theatre Elli to celebrate St. David’s Day, instead of the usual cawl at a local pub.
The programme for the coming year is in process of preparation and ideas were asked for names of speakers for meetings.
Members were reminded of the celebration in the village hall of St. Dynwen’s Day on Saturday, 24th January. Everyone is requested to take a plate of food to share.
The meeting ended with games of whist and dominoes to introduce these to members who had not played before.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, 5th February. Anyone wishing to join us would be very welcome. The meeting will be in the village hall and starts at 7pm.
