March 2009 meeting
Wednesday, May 20
MYDDFAI WI
The meeting on 4th March was held at the home
of Secretary Nesta Davies, before going on to
the Red Lion, Llangadog, for a cawl supper. The
meeting began with the distribution to members
of the programme for 2009. A letter had been
received from Keith Brown, of Cilgwyn Lodge,
requesting that we would again do the teas at his
Open Garden Day on Sunday 19th July. This
year will be the 10th anniversary of opening the
garden for the National Garden Scheme. An
extra attraction is planned, a stall selling
Myddfai crafts and other items made locally.
Four members had taken part in an evening
of dominoes at the White Hart, Llandeilo, and
had enjoyed a jolly time, as usual.
The Brianne Spring Group Meeting will be
held on Friday, 20th March, in Llangadog. The
guest speaker will be David Walters, Chief
Executive of the Royal Welsh Show.
A discussion followed on the entries for the
‘Show within a Show’ on Saturday 27th June at
the National Botanic Gardens. Some members
offered to enter items for some of the categories.
Next on the agenda was deciding on the
venue and date for the annual May outing. The
final choice was the Cathedral city of Wells in
Somerset, and the possible date 14th May. We
very much hope to welcome anyone who would
like to join us that day, so that we can fill the
places on the coach.
Two members hope to go on the Carmarthen
town ramble on Wednesday 22nd April, and
several plan to attend the spring council meeting
on Monday 27th April at St Peter’s Civic Hall.
Carmarthenshire, when the speaker will be Peter
Shaw talking on his experience of being
kidnapped in Georgia in 2002. The next meeting
will be on 2nd April, when the speaker will be
Richard Keen.
